Tecsidel has consolidated its position in India in toll systems, ITS Solutions and complete management of Infrastructure. Constantly upgrading and innovating, Tecsidel makes it a point to offer customised solutions. Akash Sinha, CEO, Tecsidel talks to Trafficinfratech about company’s vision to stay ahead in technology deployment,
How are you upgrading on the technology innovation and what are your focus areas?
We as Tecsidel, have solidified our presence in India by focusing on advanced toll systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and infrastructure management. We continuously innovate to stay ahead in tolling & Traffic technology, leveraging both global expertise and localized solutions. Some of the few points that we are emphasising on are:
Adoption of Free-Flow Tolling Systems in India: Tecsidel has been a pioneer in free-flow tolling, also known as Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) Worldwide. This system eliminates physical barriers, allowing vehicles to pass without stopping. It uses a combination of RFID tags, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras, and centralized data processing. By reducing congestion and improving efficiency, this technology aligns with the Government shift toward cashless, high-speed toll collection. By adopting digital and automated tolling, India will also contribute to sustainable goals. Free-flow tolling reduces idling time, lowering fuel consumption and emissions, which is especially significant in urban areas.
Enhancing Stop-and-Go Toll Systems: As India is witnessing Free Flow Tolling (some of the tenders are coming now), Tecsidel also continues to refine traditional stop-and-go Tolling solution. These improvements include faster processing at toll booths through advanced software / hardware, integration of FASTag systems, and user-friendly interfaces. The goal is to ensure smooth traffic flow even at conventional toll setups.
ITS Technology: India (Specially after the 2023 Mandate, thanks to technical leadership team of IHMCL / NHAI) is witnessing lot of technology enhancement on Highways and Expressways including integration of equipment, Incident detections and enforcement for wrong lane driving or over speeding, sectional speeding, no seat belt etc. Tecsidel integrates all these, combining data analytics, predictive maintenance, and real-time monitoring. These systems optimize traffic management, improve safety, and even can ensure the travel time is reduced and efficient.
Customization for Indian Market Needs: Recognizing the unique challenges of Indian highways operations, Tecsidel customizes its solutions to handle high traffic volumes and diverse vehicle types. This includes robust hardware and software capable of functioning in extreme conditions.
Emphasis on Data Security and Scalability: We in Tecsidel, ensure that our systems are scalable for future expansion and include robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive user data in digital tolling environments.
Which are the different toll projects? How have you been able to use Tecsidel’s expertise in integrating different levels of tolling and in offering customized solutions
As a policy, we consider our customers as our partners wherein we never deliver standard solutions but deliver customised solutions which fit for their needs to ease their operational issues. For example, in Purvanchal Expressway which was “The first MSI Project in India”, we not only delivered the customised MSI solution (Level 3 Back office software) but also provided the AI with the software so that it can have a double check on its own solution as per the requirement of all the local System Integrators so that all could perform their tasks. We did a similar project for IRB for Ahmedabad- Vadodara BOT project.
We have solution to integrate multiple levels of Toll Systems. Even we have solution for integrating Local Toll Plaza with Multi Lane Free Flow and even to the extent of integrating GNSS (all together).
What are Tecsidel’s plans for expanding its technology deployment in newer areas?
We keep on upgrading ourselves regularly. We have been doing conventional tolling, booth-less tolling, Advance Traffic Management System as per mandate 2016, 2020, 2021 and now 2023 and parking solutions too.
In 2025 (apart from our regular business which we plan to keep on doing), we plan to focus more on MLFF, GNSS solutions and customized software for MSI and Banks. We have successfully demonstrated our expertise in GNSS for Toll Charger software in the demo performed this year by IHMCL. We plan to give more customization on software using AI to get better results.
How would you sum up your experiences at the Trafficinfratech expo?
The Expo is a leading platform to experience latest innovations in traffic management, smart mobility, and road safety in India.
We have been associated with TrafficInfraTech since many years now. It is the best place to showcase the latest technology as well as meet old as well as new customers. I feel it is very important for all of us (as our industry) to reconnect and this is the best location for that.
For us, this was a perfect place for networking with our industry System Integrators, new and old OEMs, market insight as well as to meet new customers for business.
