Uttar Pradesh plans Trauma Centres on highways

The Uttar Pradesh government proposes to set up control rooms or trauma centres on state and national highways which will provide emergency medical care to accident victims. These victims will be treated in district-level hospitals throughout the State. The toll-free numbers of control rooms are being publicised widely. District magistrates and local police officials have been directed to facilitate quick emergency care of accident victims and their prompt admission to hospitals. A committee consisting of the District Magistrate, the Chief Medical Officer and the Road Transport Officer will supervise emergency services in each district. Ambulances will be available 24×7 for transporting accident victims and will be deployed in three shifts of eight hours each. The State Health department will handle the arrangement and maintenance of the ambulances. Cranes will be used to clear traffic in case of major accidents.
