Second Suzuki Motorcycle plant in Haryana

The Haryana government has approved a plan by Japanese auto giant Suzuki Motorcycle to set up a second manufacturing plant in the state. The new plant would be based on an area of over 50 acres and would manufacture about 20 lakh motorcycles per year. The company is set to invest about 2000 crore for the purpose. The first phase of the plant is likely to be completed in 2014 and would produce about five lakh motorcycles annually. The Maruti Suzuki group has made sizeable investments of over 22,000 crore in Haryana with its four-wheeler manufacturing facilities at Gurgaon and Manesar. The company is also in the process of setting up a research and development unit in the state with a world-class test facility at Rohtak.
