PM launches projects south of the Vindhyas

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the new state-of-the-art international terminal building at Trichy airport recently. Tiruchirappalli International Airport is the second-largest airport in terms of international passenger traffic after Chennai in Tamil Nadu and the new terminal has the capacity to serve more than 44 lakh passengers annually and 3,500 passengers during peak hours. The PM also inaugurated multiple railway projects including doubling the length of railway sections and rail line electrification.

The rail projects will help improve the capacity to carry freight and passengers. He also dedicated five road projects including those on sections of NH-81, NH-785, NH-536 and NH-179A. During his visit to Kerala, the PM inaugurated three major infrastructure projects including New Dry Dock (NDD) at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) of CSL, and LPG Import Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Puthuvypeen, Kochi. These major infrastructure projects are in line with the Prime Minister’s vision to build capacity and self-sufficiency in India’s ports, shipping, and waterways sector.
