Mumbai airport to use SITA technology

The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at Mumbai will use AirportConnect Open, the common-use passenger system from SITA (Soci?t? Internationale de T?l?communications A?ronautiques). Under the terms of a ten-year agreement signed between Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) and SITA, the system will provide passenger handling, baggage reconciliation and security solutions. SITA will also install the Airport iValidate system at the airport to process passengers at both terminal entry points as well as before exiting boarding gates. AirportConnect Open will be incorporated along with the existing airport management system at the domestic terminals 1A and 1B, as well as at about 600 counters and around 90 common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks that will be installed in the new integrated terminal T2. The new system will enable the airport to tackle the increase in passenger volumes expected in the next few years. The airport handled about 31 million passengers with 36 flights per hour in 2012. With the new terminal this is expected to go up to 40 million passengers per year and 48 flights per hour.
