The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has decided to split the largest road project in the country ? the 555-km Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway project ? into two or more projects to make it financially viable. The project, awarded earlier to GMR Infrastructure, had got stuck after the concessionaire pulled out, citing difficulties in getting environmental clearances for the project. The Ministry is likely to send out request for fresh bids for the project by breaking it into two or more projects. One plan was to split it into two stretches of 300km and 255km. The project runs parallel to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.
