The Ministry of Finance has identified 434 projects under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, aiming to boost infrastructure development in India with an investment of Rs. 11.17 lakh crore. These projects span key economic corridors, including energy, mineral, and cement corridors; high traffic density corridors; and port connectivity corridors, ensuring multi-modal connectivity and enhanced logistics efficiency. This initiative aligns with the National Logistics Policy, which focuses on optimizing supply chain management and reducing costs.
Under the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals (GCT) program, significant progress has been made, with 91 terminals commissioned and 234 projects receiving in-principle approvals. As of October 31, 2024, 339 new terminal applications have been received, driving rapid expansion in infrastructure investment in India. Additionally, 68 sanctioned projects covering 6,290 km of track length and 88 projects spanning 10,603 km under appraisal reflect the scale of growth in infrastructure financing in India.
The initiative also integrates logistics data bank solutions for real-time monitoring, strengthening the supply chain ecosystem. By streamlining transportation networks and fostering seamless freight movement, PM Gati Shakti is set to revolutionize India’s logistics landscape, accelerating economic growth under the 2024-25 Union Budget vision of Viksit Bharat.
