Florida DOT approves VMS Retrofit Solution

The Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) in the US has approved the use of a Virtual (Dynamic) Message Sign Retrofit Solution developed by SES America. SES has been retrofitting VMSes in the US since 2008, mostly from other manufacturers. SES uses M6000 technology for the retrofitting and does it onsite in a minimum time. The parts are tested and assembled in the factory before being shipped. All the major types of VMS such as fibre optic, flip disk and LEDs, from all major manufacturers can be retrofitted. The retrofitted VMS have been shown to be cost-effective and require very less maintenance. They also provide greater cone of vision, better reliability and greater luminance and increase the service life of the VMS. The components used are National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol (NTCIP) compliant. SES also provides a maintenance software and support for the product.
