As with the previous editions, this year too, the expo ended with a chorus: “We will be here next year too”. Both the exhibitors and visitors said that they got what they came for: Enhancing Business, interactive meeting and knowledge sharing opportunities – all in large measures.
Trafficinfratech Expo has been going from strength to strength as it has strived to create a platform for showcasing the evolving and emerging global technologies for safer mobility and sustainable infrastructure. While the most visible trend has been on AI backed traffic, parking and infrastructure solutions, the need for technology integration was clearly spelt out all through the three days of expo and conference.
Very aptly, Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, emphasised in his address to the exhibitors and visitors the government’s intention to improve road safety and use artificial intelligence and other innovative tools to manage traffic violations and toll collection.
Organised by VIS Group and Messe Frankfurt India, the 12th edition of Trafficinfratech Expo with concurrent shows- Road Infratech Expo and Parking InfraTech Expo saw visitor presence from 16 countries: An impressive mix of technology providers & seekers, policy making government departments, consultants, infrastructure project developers and those who want to understand the trends and innovations in the sector and also to be part of the knowledge sharing sessions.
The event brought to the fore the technology advancements and solutions, many of those being indigenously developed, and also focusing on sustainability. Going with the requirements of the traffic/transport segment, the solutions displayed covered areas like integration of AI, IoT, and cloud technologies, ATMS, ITMS, ATCS, Intelligence driven sustainable design, engineering, AI based video surveillance & analytics, multi-lane free flow, RFID enabled & GNSS tolling systems, vehicle weighing options, drone based traffic monitoring, smart ticketing, vehicle detection solutions, radar based road safety warning systems, crash barriers, network (IP) and thermal cameras, mobile enforcement systems, innovative road markings, interceptors, intelligent parking management systems with advanced access control, automated ticketing and ANPR based security solutions.
Calling for Collaboration
Encouraging everyone to uphold features of sustainability and safety in product and service developments, Mahmood Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways who inaugurated the Expo conveyed, “The organisers and participants are rendering great services by doing something for the country and the world by imparting safety. There will be many discussions happening over the three days of the expo on smart mobility, road infrastructure, and transport sector. I believe that out of these discussions you shall identify gaps, suggest possible solutions which can be collectively presented to us with your suggestions, so we can add our bit and get those implemented, making our transport and traffic infrastructure sustainable and safe.”
The Additional Secretary highlighted the need for cleaner, greener transportation solutions. The goals require a collaborative approach, with contributions from various sectors—the Government, industry, and academia—working in tandem to create actionable, real-world solutions.
He called upon the exhibitors and visitors to share their insights and recommendations, assuring them that the government and regulators are committed to solve issues and get the ideas transformed into reality.
Infrastructure Development, Innovation… and Road safety
“I am always of the opinion that innovation, entrepreneurship, science, technology, research skill and successful practices are what is called knowledge and conversion of knowledge into wealth is the future.”
– Shri. Nitin Gadkari,
Honourable Minister of Road Transport and Highways
Addressing the gathering at the 12th edition of the TrafficInfraTech Expo, Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, emphasised the government’s intention to improve road safety and use artificial intelligence and other innovative tools to manage traffic violations and toll collection
“The most important priority of the government is development. While we are already making a number of express highways and controlled-access roads, the most important problem in this sector is road safety. Every year we have five lakh accidents. Based on current statistics, it is going up to one lakh sixty-eight thousand deaths every year. Sixty percent of the victims are from the age group of 18 to 36 years and we are losing three percent of our GDP because of road accidents.
The experience was amazing. An excellent platform for all stakeholders. Of special interest to me has been ANPR cameras, traffic management & and mobility solutions that can be implemented at our facility. A platform like this helps the Industry a lot as you get to see so many professionals at one go.

“While preventive measures are being taken, we need to improve road engineering using the most developed technology available in the world and in the process, encourage startups by young, talented engineers from the country. By using innovation, technology and development and artificial intelligence in this sector, I am confident we are going to reduce road accidents and improve road safety.
“Regarding toll collection, we are trying to develop and use technology in a way that not only levy be collected but traffic violators be identified and fines enforced on them. Just two days ago I have signed off for experts from the private sector to be appointed in a committee that will look to enhance road safety technology. The committee comprising members from the government and private sectors has been instructed to submit its proposals in three months. Once proposals are evaluated and the best technology adopted, tenders will be released and I invite small companies and startups to participate in the process.
“Innovation has to be cost effective. If the needs of both departments under MoRTH, one related to roads and road safety and the other, to regulations and their enforcement, can be addressed by the same innovative technology without compromising on quality, it will reduce costs for the sector. Total capital investment will be made by the banker and technology provider. We are looking at revenue sharing from levies and toll collection between the investors and the government.”
The conference session on road safety has been very beneficial. Definitely, technology involvement, human behaviour improvement and other factors are required to enhance road safety. The use of AI in road safety is something which is new and definitely needs to be implemented at very different levels, not only on the instrumentation part but also in the data analysis part. We look forward to more technology companies coming and offering their solutions for road safety and how AI can be implemented, apart from the policy level issues.
– Atul Kumar, General Manager- ITS, DIMTS Ltd.
The experience in the exhibition has been really good. We met a lot of new companies that are coming new into this space. We have also met some giants like Hikvision, CP as well as others in this genre. The Gen AI part coming into traffic does make some changes in the overall structure of traffic infrastructure. This should also be backed with a good amount of responsible AI hybridization that is currently happening. A platform like this helps the industry immensely. Great work by the Trafficinftatech team. You can include a start-up pavilion as well.

I think it has been a wonderful Expo along with the conference with impressive participation from various vendors and visitors from mobility space. One of the major takeaways is how do various stakeholders in the different parts of the ecosystem come together with a holistic perspective all of the solutions that we are building for a better India and for a green to greener mobility experience. There has been a remarkable showcase of AI-based technologies.
– Shrinivas Prabhakar Rao
Head, VR Plus India (Tech company back-office, Electronic Tolling Solutions)
My fourth time. I appreciate the efforts taken by the Trafficinfratech team. The focus of the conference was on ITS in traffic. The next session can focus on the development of the driver, his instructors and the capacity building of the persons working behind this infrastructure. “Catch them young” to achieve the target of Vision Zero goal of road safety.
– Sanjay Sasane

We are getting information about AI and we are currently talking about data standardisation that’s a key aspect for us. ATMS, Smart Mobility etc. are really good. This platform deserves applause because higher officials, industrial experts and professors are here.

A good Expo. Good Knowledge sharing. Unfortunately, the last year figures for road accidents and fatalities are very alarming and we need to work with great seriousness on road safety. AI based innovations presented here are enlightening and if implemented correctly, we can reduce the number of road accidents. There was a discussion why even after all efforts, accidents and fatalities have not reduced and the reasons for the same. I feel we should also talk more on behavioural change, then the sessions will be more useful.
– Sanjay Sharma
Jt Transport Commissioner, Road Safety and AIG Traffic and Interdepartmental Lead Agency Road Safety Chhattisgarh
This has been excellent experience especially meeting people from different backgrounds. We could experience collaboration, learnings, especially about Green Technologies, cameras, radars etc. The expo gave effective understanding of the entire system and in the capacity of the DoT, I understand ITS more than what we see from the ICT perspective. Biggest takeaway is working together, having standardisation and collaborating with all stakeholders including the different verticals. Presentation by my Japanese colleague relating to smartphone was very interesting. The ITS industry has to work closely with the Ministry of Communications to get the right spectrum.
R Shakya
Additional Director General, Ministry of Communications
The experience has been excellent. I have been coming here for the last five years and this year the conference sessions were really great and I particularly liked the Green to Greener session where the international European experiences were shared from the concessionaire’s perspective and how to make our national highways greener can be brought in in India. Found video analytics technology interesting.

We feel there is a GNSS ATC stack story that will get unfolded in years to come and having participated for first time in India at Trafficinfratech Expo, we have come across humungous possibilities in terms of getting aligned with stakeholders. We are very buoyed up by our engagement over last two days. The show provides a very democratized platform, I feel, where industry can integrate and align with the product and service profiles offered here. I would also expect Trafficinfratech to take a leap from here to be more inclusive and aggressive in terms of the spread so that startups come forward and participate in the stack story.
– Dushyant Deshpande,

My experience has been very positive, very productive and I had a very good time here. We need to do quite a lot when it comes to transport, sustainability, climate change, and how we really use it in our day-to-day life. That is the one takeaway for me. Data is the one thing which helps the government sector to build policy & processes.
– Pooran Chandra Pandey

We have been participating in Traffic InfraTech exhibitions since almost ten years. The overall experience is good. This is the platform where we meet our clients, our suppliers, get to see new products and new launches. We are showcasing our product and solutions this time, which got patented last year in 2023. This is the only exhibition which happens for ITS industry in India. The standards are improving with having Messe Frankfurt in place.
