Bombardier to assemble diesel locos for EMD

Bombardier Transportation has announced it will supply diesel locomotives to Electromotive Diesels (EMD) for export to Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. Under an agreement signed between the two companies Bombardier will manufacture components such as under-frames and bogies and assemble the locomotives at its Savli plant in Gujarat. EMD will provide the technology for engineering and quality control and will be responsible for product performance. The agreement will expand Bombardier’s rail manufacturing capabilities in India. EMD recently opened a facility in Patli in Gurgaon for manufacturing locomotive control systems.
