Toyota Motor Company is recalling 7.4 million cars and trucks worldwide due to a problem of defective power window switches in the vehicles. The defective switches can stick, cause smoke and potentially cause fires. The switches get sticky due to wear over time; this combined with the grease applied to them at the manufacturing stage causes them to overheat. The company is recalling 2.5 million vehicles in the United States. Vehicle owners affected by the recall will soon start receiving notices to have their cars checked at dealerships later this month.
