Your story on TCRIP -Thiruvananthapuram

This is with reference to your June-July 2014 cover story, “Transforming Thiruvananthapuram”. I appreciate the efforts taken by TrafficInfraTech to collect the details of the City Road Improvement Project carried out in Thiruvananthapuram and bring out a report.

I wish to inform you that my father, Dr N S Srinivasan offered technical guidance in the planning, implementation and monitoring of road and traffic projects in the State. He was the main architect of the comprehensive road and traffic improvements project of international standard carried out in Thiruvananthapuram with public private participation (PPP). This is the first urban road development project of this kind carried out in the country with such participation. A separate organisation (Special Purpose Vehicle) was set up to implement this project.

Realising the usefulness of this project, the Government of Kerala initiated similar projects in Kozhikode, Kochi and a few more cities. His technical services were again utilised for these projects and for selection of 1100km of priority roads.

In appreciation of the valuable services rendered to the state, Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala honoured him in the year 2012.
