The Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) is organising a workshop, ?Technologies for North East Region and Implementation Framework? on July 08-09, 2013 in Gangtok, Sikkim. The Conference on Road and Transportation Technologies for the North East Region held earlier in February this year at Guwahati had highlighted the need of ensuring large-scale implementation of appropriate technologies for the region. It was felt that state road departments in the region, research and academic institutes, technology providers and executors and contractors should come on a common platform for discussing the implementation of new and upcoming technologies. The workshop will deliberate on the technologies that are suitable for the north-east region and discuss the framework to be developed for the implementation of these technologies at the grassroots level. The workshop aims to inculcate an environment by which the profession can understand the requirements and possible ways to adopt new technologies. Representatives from the Ministries of Road Transport & Highways and Rural Development, Public Works Departments of states and others from the industry are expected to participate.
