TRAFFICINFRATECH EXPO 2011 On the road to success

A very noticeable group of traffic policemen from Palwal, Haryana, was led by Inspector Surinder Singh. He said, “We have come to see the instruments related to traffic which can help us in our profession. We were able to see very modern equipment for breath alcohol analysers. These will help in our daily life and profession. The products displayed are very good.”

Colonel R Bhargav, Head, SMS India (part of Alsemex of Spain) too had come with the intention of learning about new technologies. “We specialise in highway maintenance and we are pioneers in micro-surfacing which is specialised surfacing. We maintain Ahmedabad Vadodara Expressway for NHAI and Hyderabad Outer Ring Road for Hydrerabad Urban Development Authority. Since we are into maintenance of roads, all that is here is of interest to us. I am very happy to see the standard of this exhibition. Almost all the items we use in maintaining the roads and perhaps more, are displayed here. If they can contribute towards road safety, your job will be well done. I am impressed with the exhibition because it will add to the road engineers’ knowledge of improving conditions for the users. I want to congratulate the organisers who have gone into such great detail. This is the first type of this exhibition.”

Rajeev Gupta of New Tech Associates had come from Ghaziabad. “Many companies from India and abroad are exhibiting their products on road safety here. It was a good decision to organise this as distributors get to see new products here. You should organise this every year.”

Kashi Vishwanathan of ATC Systems India Pvt Ltd was there too. “We are a Singapore based company involved in traffic management systems. This is one of the best shows in this field. I am visiting it to look at traffic solutions. This is definitely an eye opener. You can see lot of participation — even from Indian companies, i.e., the local manufacturers which is very good. We have been importing products through our Singapore office till now but now we can source local products. This is really very helpful for us. We are looking forward to this kind of shows in future also. We will be participating in your next show.”

Dr P S Pasricha, former Director General of Maharashtra took a round at the expo after he had finished chairing the seminar on urban road safety on the last day. He said, “I really enjoyed chairing the seminar because the gathering was pretty good. Normally, 30-40 people come for the seminar but today, the attendance was 150 people. And they were from different walks of life. The interactions were very meaningful. Some of the presentations were very-very good.”

Vivek Phansalkar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mumbai said, “It was a very nice platform to share a lot of ideas, views, and the common crowd problems that people who manage traffic in mega cities like me face. Discussion was very fruitful. I must compliment the organisers. The Expo has been very well placed. Space management has been done very well. This visit has been very, very fruitful and a very good opportunity to learn.”

Satyendra Garg, JCP (Traffic) Delhi said, “We had people from all over at the seminar and they made very good presentations and brought out the concepts very well. It shows that if things are handled in a way, improvements can be made at all the places and people can learn from each other’s experience. It was worth visiting this Expo and participating in the seminar. The products displayed here are very useful and I am sure that with improvisations and with the induction of technology, things can be made much better than what they are on the ground.”

R A Rajeev, Municipal Commissioner of Thane and Subhash Patil, Member, Joint Task Force were among those who specially came from Mumbai to visit the show. C L Saha and Iqbal Singh Jagdeva of APSA were there too.

Co-organiser Dr Reinhold Marsoner, CEO, Fiera Bolzano, Italy was happy to be associated with the show, “We have collaborated with VIS to develop TrafficInfraTech Expo in India. They have proved to be very good partners. I am very happy that the first trade show on traffic by the company is of a very good quality.”

Another co-organiser Toni D’Andrea, Managing Director, Afidamp Servizi srl, Italy said, “We are together with VIS since many years. We are from Italy, Europe and we see that India is the most emerging country in the world. So anything that happens here is a great chance for us to improve our experience and business. Virtual Info Systems has been our partner for many years and we feel it is the best we can find here in India. It’s not only a business agreement but it’s a friendship too now. The management of the show is brilliant and we are happy about it. I am all the time impressed in India that the people are so interested in the training, in the learning at seminars. In Europe, it is much more difficult to involve people in the learning business. I think India can teach us how to proceed. It’s a great example for us.”

All this positive feedback instilled confidence in the top management of Virtual Info Systems to chart a much stronger path on road safety and traffic management through the exposition and TrafficInfraTech magazine in the future. Said Jayaram Nair, Chairman, VIS, “Our intention was to bring all the stakeholders under one roof on areas of road safety and traffic management. We are glad we could achieve that. This positive feedback encourages us to come up with a much bigger show next time that can offer many more solutions.”

Said J P Nair, Managing Director, VIS “We wanted to provide all the solution providers and solution seekers a meeting place. The fact that they could take advantage of such an opportunity strengthens our resolve to take this further.”
