Visitors were happy too
While the Expo proved beneficial for the exhibitors, visitors coming to the show weren’t disappointed either. Many of them too could strike business relations. And those who came looking for solutions, got more than they had expected.
Many senior police officers, mainly from the traffic department, had specially come to Delhi to attend the show. Ahmed Javed, Police Commissioner, Navi Mumbai, came right on the first day and his keenness to learn about various technologies sent a shot of adrenalin among the exhibitors. While Envoys offered to come to Navi Mumbai and give a demonstration of its products to his department and to the Mayor of Navi Mumbai, many others were too happy to show him their products. It surprised many that he was well aware of many technologies and asked just the right questions. “I am happy I came here and I will want my mayor to come too so that he can have a look at the latest technologies.” And true to his expectation, Sagar Naik, the mayor of Navi Mumbai, too visited the show.
Surya Kumar, Additional Director General of Police – Transport, Uttar Pradesh, not only came to attend the show but also sportingly participated in the roundtable discussion on the first day. Surinder Verma, Additional SP came from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, while MJ Pancholi, Assistant Commissioner of Police came from Vadodara.
Inspectors Mohit Kumar and Umakant Choudhary came from Jabalpur and Ujjain respectively, while including lady inspectors came all the way from Dewas and other parts of Madhya Pradesh. Kiran Kumar, Traffic Inspector from Jaipur suggested that apart from the experts, a meeting ground should be organised for the traffic cops on the road to know the ground realities and difficulties in managing traffic. One inspector also wanted the organisers to organise a meeting of such policemen with the Union Minister of Road and Highways so that they could apprise him of their needs for managing traffic.
Amidst all the hustle-bustle at the venue, there was a buzz when the anti-corruption cell from Punjab came as a huge contingent. The group’s National President, Jagdish Singh Diwan, visited nearly all the stalls and learnt about the new technologies.
Tarun Sapra, Design consultant with Olive Group that deals in all security systems like CCTV, access control, fire alarm and traffic management was there to look for special thermal, mega pixel cameras and barriers. “I found some nice companies here. I am getting nice solutions. So the show proves to be positive for me.”
Sunil Srivastava of Wipro Technology Pvt Ltd came to learn about new trends and technologies. “We are system integrators and provide various turnkey solutions to government organisations including the Indian Army, Navy and State Police. I not only found new technologies but also tied up with a few companies here. I visit every expo held at Pragati Maidan but this is my first participation at the NSIC Grounds and I find the way this Expo is managed here, is very good. Next time, I too would like to display our products at your show.”
Virendra Gupta, President, Info Smart Solutions came to the Expo since his company is into traffic management systems and city surveillance projects. “Since traffic management is gaining momentum in India, I wanted to see which companies have the capability to work under city surveillance projects. The organisation is wonderful.”
Yuusuke Sakurai, Assistant Manager with Toshiba Corporation had come from Japan. “I want to join the wide Indian market. Indian system is of very good quality and can be bought at reasonable price. I like the show. Our company is into system integration. The show provides many good prospects for my company.”
Dr V Muralidharan, Associate Director and Head of Dept, CIG, CDAC exclaimed, “This show is more than what I had expected. It has a lot of useful products. I have seen similar shows abroad also and this is at par with those shows. I am looking at products on traffic management, boom barriers, traffic signalling and solutions for parking and other areas. I will recommend this show to other people also and ask them to come and see the show.”
His colleague, Ravi Kumar, Joint Director added: “I never expected this kind of elaborate arrangement in India. Surprisingly, we found a lot of Indian suppliers and that was a great feeling. We thought many solutions could only be imported. The problem with importing products is that we get the products but not the technology. Maintenance becomes a problem. CDAC is working in the area of traffic signalling and traffic management. We could network with a lot of people from these areas. What I noticed at the seminar in the morning was that it went up to 3 pm – much beyond its stipulated time – and yet, people stayed back. They did not leave. Normal practice is that by 12 or 12.30, the hall gets almost empty. But here it was overcrowded. That itself shows the success of this programme.”
Amit Khara, Director, Auto Mart Industries had come all the way from Nagpur, Maharashtra to visit the show. “I am into road traffic systems, and this is an international arena where we can see different products from different companies. I got contacts from many multi-national companies. I am specifically looking at traffic safety devices, tolling systems and parking lots. Next time, I will not come as a visitor. I will exhibit at your show.”
K N Sharma, NRI from London, who is into project shipment, came to meet people who would need very personalised sellers. “I have been able to establish link with certain people and am negotiating with companies of other countries. I am very impressed with the management here.”
