“The conference has been very, very energetic and exciting. It is the first time I have been to India and I enjoyed both the Conference and the Expo. How to utilize AI is my big interest. India is very good at IT technology, so this is the reason I came down here to learn how to utilize the AI technology into the ITS service,” said Akio Yamamoto, Secretary General, ITS Asia-Pacific and President, ITS-Japan.
For every speaker and participant the two day marathon has been invigorating and informative. For many, including academia, the sessions gave unique opportunity to gain practical perspective and the ground needs for more data and research. With the seminar hall overflowing with eager listeners, each session has had the best of speakers from the Industry, the Government departments and academia. “The ITS session in a packed hall—‘Setting the Vision for Future-Ready ITS in India’ covered every possible segment and was very informative”, voiced the delegates.
Setting a logical order for the two day sessions the opening discussion emphasized the importance of sustainable mobility solutions and the need for infrastructure adaptations to support eco-friendly urban mobility. Road safety ‘Vision Zero’ session addressed India’s alarming road fatality rate, with panelists advocating for the “5Es” framework—Engineering, Emergency Care, Enforcement, Encouragement, and Education followed by discussions on road safety challenges, impact of poor infrastructure, inadequate road design, innovations in road safety and enhancing ADAS, and better driver behavior.

South Asian University President, Prof. K K Aggarwal, highlighted the potential of intelligent technologies in revolutionizing global transportation systems, particularly in SAARC countries. He urged collaboration between India and neighboring nations to advance research and education in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to shape the future of mobility. Prof Aggarwal appreciated the initiative by Traffic Infratech and the ITS India Forum.

The conference has been an eye-opener to various traffic implementation with regard to safety and new projects that have come out. The biggest takeaway was looking at (things) not only from a traffic point of view but also from a humanitarian point of view.
