Seven roads and two flyovers for Mumbai

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced that it will soon improve 145km of roads in the MMR in a bid to make travelling on them comfortable and speedy. The road network will include seven important roads in the areas of Kalyan, Badlapur and Karjat which will be expanded and upgraded. The project will also undertake quadrupling of Arnala-Virar-Kaner-Shirsad-Ambadi State Road and Padgha-Vishind Road; Kalyan-Badlapur-Karjat-Hal Phata State Road and Karjat to Chowk State Road. The State Roads from Katai Naka to Badlapur and NH 8 to Nalasopara-Nirmal will also be developed and widened under the project.

Since noise barriers installed at Bandra-Kurla Complex have proved to be successful, it was decided to install noise barriers on these roads too.

Commuting on Thane-Nasik Highway will also get much better as MMRDA has planned two more flyovers – one each at Rajnoli and Mankoli junctions. The city of Nasik is attracting more and more commercial activities. The growing number of educational institutions, malls, multiplexes and infrastructure is also attracting more commercial activities. The Thane-Nasik NH-3, in this context, assumes importance.
