Pure EV – Net Zero by FY 2026

Union Incubated out of IIT Hyderabad, PURE (Power Using Renewable Energy) EV claims a net reduction of 96,720 tonnes of CO2 emission through its sale and use of over 75,000 electric vehicles collectively having driven over 260 crore kilometres as of 2024. The company has been manufacturing electric bikes and scooters since 2015. “These figures demonstrate our significant contribution to reducing the carbon footprint of the commute sector and support our commitment to creating a sustainable future”, says Founder and MD, Dr Nishanth Dongari.

Equally focused on sustainability within its operations, PURE EV has installed a 125 kWh solar energy system integrated with a 500 kWh Energy Storage Solution (ESS), which has helped reduce fuel and diesel generator charges by 60%. This initiative has also resulted in lower peak load charges. An additional 125 kW of solar power and 500 kWh of ESS will be installed to meet their net zero target by FY 2026.

“The 500 kWh of energy storage is powered entirely by refurbished batteries. These batteries have been repurposed from customers who upgraded to the latest 5th generation high-performance batteries. It not only reduces waste but supports a circular economy by giving a second life to batteries, reinforcing our dedication to sustainable practices”, said Dongari. “Removable and interchangeable batteries represent a crucial step toward making EVs more sustainable, accessible, and convenient. At PURE EV, we are committed to embracing these technologies to drive the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable transportation future”, he concluded.
