The Uttar Pradesh government has outlined a new transportation infrastructure plan. Under the plan, a new expressway will be built, connecting Lucknow and Agra. The highway, expected to cost about ?9,500 crore will bring down travel time between the two cities to three hours from the present six hours. Further, the government proposes to connect all district headquarters in the state through four-lane highways. The total outlay for the transportation infrastructure plan is around ?23,000 crore. To further improve connectivity, new airports will be built at Agra and Kushinagar. The government will also install 16000 megawatts of electric power generation capacity over the next five years to deliver uninterrupted power in the state for infrastructure and other projects.
