MoRTH signs MoU to set up CATTS

The Road Ministry, through the Indian Academy of Highway Engineers and University of New South Wales, recently signed a MOU to set up a Centre for Advanced Transportation Technology and Systems. CATTS, in this smart transportation project, has three-pronged work cut out for itself:

  1. Accelerate the evaluation and adoption of new transportation technologies and explore market opportunities for them in India and Australia.
  2. Conduct research, development and training in the areas of transport system modelling and data for smart cities.
  3. See technological innovation for economic development through improved safety and reduced congestion. It will be the world’s first transportation centre involving the two countries to carry out the third activity mentioned above.
