KSRTC launches longest Volvo bus

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced a 14.5 metre long Volvo multi-axle air-conditioned bus, the longest in the country. The Volvo 9400PX is built on the new light-weight Volvo PX platform, which provides better ability to tackle steeper grades, and also has better acceleration, enhanced stability & larger luggage space. The bus has been initially been launched between Bangalore and Mysore on a pilot basis. Once successful, the service will be expanded to Bangalore-Chennai, Bangalore-Tirupati, Bangalore-Pune, Bangalore-Hyderabad, Bangalore-Panaji and other routes. The bus which has 41 seats will have in-house pantry services and a toilet, a first in the country. It also has a rear steerable axle for better manoeuvrability and automated transmission with intelligent gear-shift (I-shift).
