ITS World Congress 2024, Dubai – Collaborations – Learnings – Opportunities

The ITS India Pavilion at the 30th ITS World Congress 2024 in Dubai, held from September 16 to 20, was a vibrant hub showcasing solutions in traffic management, connected vehicle systems, enforcement, and sustainable mobility. This collaborative effort brought together industry leaders including AABMATICA Technologies, ADOR Powertron, Amnex Infotechnologies, Arcadis, Danlaw Inc., Envoys Electronics, ITS Planners & Engineers, Metro Infrasys, Norden Communication, Scita Solutions, Sirab Technologies Inc., and Sparsh Securitech.

Several emerging and collaborative trends in the ITS market were identified from both the conference sessions and technology showcases. Key areas for development include the integration of AI and machine learning in traffic management, advanced vehicle and infrastructure communication, integrated traffic signal systems and adaptive traffic management, simulation and traffic modeling tools, automated tolling and road user charging solutions, enhanced traffic enforcement and surveillance, as well as sustainable and green ITS solutions.

The collaboration between Indian companies and global players has created opportunities for the Indian industry on a global scale. There are prospects in areas such as real-time traffic data and route optimization, smart tolling and congestion charging, adaptive traffic signal systems for European cities, and connected vehicle solutions for smart cities in the Middle East, which facilitate vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication for enhanced safety and efficiency. Additionally, opportunities exist for automated surveillance and enforcement in African cities, simulation and scenario planning tools for Southeast Asia, and sustainable mobility solutions for emerging economies.

Key takeaways from the Congress highlight valuable insights and collaborative opportunities. We have gained knowledge from ITS associations in various countries that have established partnership models and a robust research foundation. ITS India is well-positioned to advocate for supportive ITS policies and funding for ITS projects in the country.

The next ITS World Congress 2025 will be held in Atlanta, Georgia.
