CCTV cameras in Mohali

The Mohali Municipal Corporation has made an offer to the police to install CCTV cameras to regulate traffic and ensure enforcement of the traffic rules in the city. Generally, drivers remove their helmets or seat belts soon after entering Mohali from Chandigarh the traffic police often fail to check on them.

Mayor Kulwant Singh said that as Mohali was located just next to Chandigarh, where the traffic rules were enforced strictly, this gave a wrong impression when rules were flouted in Mohali. Domestic flights had started taking off from Mohali airport and soon international flights will also start. Apart from passengers coming from Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Punjab, Mohali will also have passengers from other countries as well.
