BS IV compliant fuel in 50 more cities by 2015

The Union government plans to progressively introduce BS (Bharat Stage)-IV compliant fuels in 50 more cities by 2015. In 2012 BS-IV fuel was introduced in seven cities – Puducherry, Mathura, Vapi, Jamnagar, Ankleshwar, Hissar and Bharatpur. BS-IV fuel was first made available in metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi/NCR, Kolkata and Chennai and some tier 2 cities such as Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Pune in 2010. The government will also formulate an Auto Fuel Policy till 2020 based on the Results Framework Document of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
