The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has allocated ?529 crore for road repairs in South Mumbai. This is the largest set of road maintenance contracts given out by the BMC in a single region and is about 50% of the amount the corporation spent on road repairs last year in the entire city. About 129 roads will be re-laid out of which 102 will be laid in asphalt while 27 will be with concrete. There are four projects for which the BMC has floated tenders ? worth ?117 crore, ?137 crore, ?148 crore and ?127 crore respectively. The corporation has relaxed rules, with contracting firms now being able to work on more than one project at a time.
