Indra wins new traffic and toll management contracts in India

Spanish technology company, Indra System S.A. has got three toll technology contracts from Indian infrastructure major GMR. The ?8.6million contract is for implementing toll technology on roads in four states: Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Gujarat. In all, the contract will see Indra implementing electronic, manual and mixed toll collection and weigh-in motion systems in 46 lanes in the four states.

In Andhra Pradesh, the company will supply and install a toll system for the 181km-long stretch of National Highway 9 (NH-9) which connects Hyderabad and Vijayawada. In Rajasthan and Gujarat, a temporary toll system will be installed on the Kishangarh-Udaipur-Ahmedabad (KUA) road, on NH79, NH8 followed by a permanent one.

The company has also got a ?1.6million contract from Soma-Isolux Kishangarh-Beawar Tollway to develop, install and maintain the toll management systems for NH-8 that link the cities of Kishangarh and Beawar in Rajasthan. Indra will also install a control centre on NH8 which will manage traffic and integrate the various systems including traffic counters, variable message panels, SOS posts, a weather station and closed circuit television (CCTV).
