In the next two years, MoRTH will be spending over Rs 13,000Cr to upgrade these highways/stateways in Maharashtra.
Under the highway upgradation project, two-lane highways will be widened to four lanes. Out of the overall 38 packages or projects, some of the highways that would be upgraded in the next couple of years include Jalna-Parbhani, Aurangabad-Shirdi, Wakan-Pali-Khopoli, Satara-Pandharpur, Pune-Mulshi-Mangaon-Dighi Port, Satara-Akluj-Latur, Miraj-Manmad, Khamgaon- Barshi-Sangola, etc.
Technical bids being evaluated for these projects. IL&FS Transportation Networks, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Dilip Buildcon, Madhucon Projects, ITD Cementation Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd, Sunil Hitech Engineers Ltd are among 159 companies that have bid for upgrading 1,267 kilometre-long state highways into national highways in Maharashtra.
