Seminar
One of the highlights of the Show were the seminars on all the three days which had representatives from important government bodies and experts from the private sector discussing the problems faced by the traffic industry and pointing out possible solutions. The first day of the Show saw a panel discussion,? On Road Parking: Challenges, Management and Solutions?. The panel consisted of Taj Hassan, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi Police, Amit Garg, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad, Bhure Lal, former Chairman, FCI Chairman Pollution Prevention & Control Authority and Sandeep Channan, Head ? Business Development, Egis Road Operation Ltd.
On the second day there were panel discussions and presentations on two topics that are of crucial importance to India?s traffic industry ? Bus Rapid Transit Systems BRTS and ITS. The panelists for the BRTS panel discussion, which was moderated by Madhav Pai of Embarq India, were Prof. Shivanand Swamy, Executive Director, Centre for Excellence in Urban Transport, CEPT University, Prashanth Kumar Bachu, Project Manager ? Urban Transport, EMBARQ India and N.C. Mathur, Director, Engineering, Jaipur Development Authority. The presentations on BRTS Special Purpose Vehicles were done by Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Chandramauli Shukla, Chief Executive Officer, Bhopal City Link Limited (Bhopal BRTS), with Amit Bhatt, Strategy Head ? Integrated Urban Transport, EMBARQ India acting as the moderator. There were also a series of presentations on ?BRTS Bus Specifications? by Raj Kumar Singh, Dir (UT-I), Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India; Laghu Parashar, Senior Manager, Urban Mass Transit Company Limited and K. Mohan, DGM – Bus Programme, Ashok Leyland.
The session on Intelligent Transportation System had presentations by Anil Shukla, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi; Ravikumar, Joint Director, CDAC; Vivekanand, Director ? Sales, Barco Electronic Systems (P) Ltd; Lidia Savall Mena, Business Development Director (Traffic and Transport), Indra Sistemas India Pvt Ltd; Emmanuel Salle, Commercial and Marketing Manager, MACQ; Dr Rajesh Krishnan, CEO, ITS Planners and Engineers Pvt. Ltd and Dr Mark Pleydell, MD, ITSPE (UK) Ltd.
The third day saw a lively panel discussion on ?The challenges in redefining the model concession agreement for highway projects? with Anand Kumar Singh, CGM, National Highway Authority of India moderating the discussion. Venkata Subbarao, Associate Vice President, GMR Highways Limited; Mukesh Kumar, Vice President, Infra Group, SBI Capital Markets Limited, Delhi; Sanjay Grewal, Group Head ? Project Finance, Infrastructure Development Finance Company Ltd; Sanjeev Ghai, Chief General Manager, India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited; Esther Malini, Sr. DGM (Contracts), L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Ltd and Abhishek Mukherjee, PPP Expert ? MoRTH (ADB) were the experts in the panel discussion.
