Toll plazas run by NHAI will soon have kiosks selling drinking water, tea/coffee, and packaged food for the convenience of highways users. Termed as Highway Nest (Mini), these kiosks are under construction on both up-side and down-side at all 372 NH run toll plazas. These are being built on 10mx20 m paved platforms about 200- 250 m from the toll plaza. Toilet facilities for ladies/gents and physically challenged persons are also available at these sites.
has provided toilet facilities at 192 toll plazas across the country, while the remaining 180 toll plazas will be covered by the end of March, 2019. Under the Government of India’s flagship programmes Swachh Bharat Mission, NHAI is also placing litterbins and hoardings carrying the Swachhta message along with message discouraging littering at these sites.
NHAI has also recently launched a countrywide drive, to address issues that affect highway users, such as ease of tolling, electronic tolling/FASTag lane, cleanliness at toll plazas, behavior of the toll plaza staff, deployment of marshals, cleanliness of toilets, functioning of wayside amenities and availability of ambulance and cranes in case of any emergency on the highway.
A massive drive has been launched on more than 300 toll plazas simultaneously across the country by the Highway Operation Division to address issues of user convenience and took feedback from the people. NHAI is going to launch a ranking system of the toll plazas. Every quarter, the three best toll plazas will be identified, and their names will be published on the NHAI website.
