The Telangana government proposes to link the Road Transport Authority database with the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad, allowing traffic police to access real-time vehicle data during checks, including registration status, insurance and pollution control certificates. The move is designed to make the issuance of traffic challans more accurate and transparent by verifying violations through authentic, live data. The initiative proposes to empower law enforcement officers to streamline their operations by eliminating data mismatches and ensuring that only valid challans are issued, as instant access to verified vehicle details will drastically improve efficiency and prevent arbitrary penalties. By integrating data platforms and enhancing video analytics, the State aims to reduce traffic violations and improve urban mobility, thus aligning with Telangana’s broader Smart City goals.
