The Andaman and Nicobar Islands traffic police organised educational classes for government and private drivers to commemorate the Road Safety Week. There was also a free eye check-up for drivers which was conducted by a medical team from the G.B. Pant Hospital at Port Blair. The drivers were enlightened on the importance of eye care and how poor vision could lead to major accidents. 85 drivers were tested for their vision, out of which six drivers were given glasses while three were referred to the hospital for further examination and treatment. Chinmoy Biswal, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), South Andaman, reportedly stressed the importance of drivers following traffic rules and taking proper care of their eyes to avoid accidents.
