Virar-Alibaug Corridor near completion

The feasibility study of the ambitious project of Virar-Alibaug Multi-Modal Corridor is reaching completion. Project planning consultants, Louis Berger & Group Inc, is expected to submit the final reports in a few months to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). S V R Srinivas, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, has said, “The planning of alternative alignment works and surveys are over. We are incorporating various infrastructure components in the Corridor in which the road component would be planned such that it would facilitate the speed of 120km/hour to the motorists.” Designing of alignment & toll plaza and interchanges have also been completed. The Corridor proposed from Diva-Vasai rail line intersection on NH-8 up to Alibaug would cover a distance of about 140km. The route would enable motorists to cover the distance just a little more than an hour. Currently, all other routes take about three to five hours to cover the distance.
