The Metro Car Depot for the Mumbai Metro being constructed at DN Nagar is expected to be opened by the end of this year. With an area of 9.75 hectare, the car depot will house the nerve centre of Mumbai Metro in the form of the Operation Control Centre (OCC). The OCC will be responsible for the efficient management of rolling stocks, traffic control, supervisory control, data acquisition system and signalling and telecommunication system. The Receiving Traction sub-station at the depot will supply traction power to the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor of the Mumbai Metro. It will also house a playback training room equipped with a stimulator which will provide extensive training to the Metro personnel. A parking lot with a facility for 21 metro trains will house a unique ramp wash facility, found in very few metro systems around the world.
