Lucknow Metro: On the Fastest Track

What are the design and sustainability features of the rolling stock?

The trains have design speed of 90 kmph & schedule speed of 32 to 35km per hour with dwell time/stoppage of 30 seconds per station and design headway of 100 second. Train exterior is a tribute to the cultural richness of the city of Lucknow. Exterior livery in golden color is inspired by the Chikankari craftsmanship. The front shape of train shows the spirit of the fabulous Roomi Gate, Bara-Imambara & Asifi Masjid. Blending of black color in front of car is inspired from modern feel of Hazaratganj.

How are the stations been developed? Do you have plans to develop them into multimodal hubs?

In the first phase of the project, the North-South (N-S) corridor (from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport to Munshipulia) is being undertaken with a total length of approximately 23 km covering 21 stations. The corridor is mostly elevated (17 stations are elevated) and partly underground (4 stations are Underground). All these stations have escalators, elevators and tactile paths to guide the visually impaired from entrance to trains. All Metro Stations have been uniquely designed keeping in mind the traditional and modern Lucknow to give it a feel of 21st century city with a heritage touch.

The Metro Stations have been designed and built as Green buildings in accordance with the standards of the Indian Green Building Council. The Lucknow Metro Stations have received Platinum certification.

The present operational “Priority Corridor” between Transport Nagar and Charbagh already connects people to different business hubs of the city like the Transport Nagar, Alambagh, Alambagh Bus Stand, Charbagh etc. Apart from this, the further under-trial stretch between Charbagh and Munshipulia will connect the Metro network with other centres like Sachivalaya, Hazratganj, Vishwavidyala, Lekhraj Market, Indira Nagar etc.by this year.

How is the Metro rail system getting integrated to other modes of transport? Both in terms of ticketing and last mile connectivity?

LMRC is integrated to other modes of transport in terms of last mile connectivity with the facility of feeder bus services available at metro stations.

For the convenience of their commuters, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation provided e-rickshaw facilities which can help them to connect to the nearest Metro Stations.

Along with this, LMRC Smart Card ‘Go Smart Card’ was integrated with 32 Applications that can be used by this card only. Like in the coming future, passengers can use this card for traveling on the bus, parking cost, to pay their mobile bills, electricity bills and many more.
