In a recent project on the Pune-Satara stretch, Wizpro showcased its commitment to efficient and dependable solutions for high-speed scenarios. Conventional traffic monitoring methods, such as Advanced Traffic Monitoring Systems (ATMS), have struggled to meet the demands of increasing traffic and road safety concerns. In particular, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, once heralded as a solution, fell short in terms of image quality and accuracy. Recognising the need for a superior alternative, Wizpro collaborated with its Italian partner, Vigilate, to develop highly accurate ANPR cameras.

Game-Changing Solution

The Pune-Satara project aimed not only to capture vehicle speeds and enforce penalties but also to provide timely information to travellers without causing distractions. With this objective in mind, Wizpro devised a comprehensive strategy to optimise road safety.

At the heart of Wizpro’s solution lies the Vigilate ANPR cameras – the V-LANE B Series. Equipped with state-of-the-art bi-spectral technology, these compact smart cameras provide unrivalled analysis of vehicle flows. What sets them apart is their ability to operate at high speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour, ensuring accurate detection regardless of vehicle velocity. Moreover, the cameras feature edge computing capabilities, eliminating the need for external processing units and reducing bandwidth requirements for connectivity to the control room.

Enhanced Visibility with Speed Displays

Wizpro’s commitment to road safety extended beyond ANPR cameras. The project employed high-intensity LEDs for speed displays, ensuring optimal visibility for motorists even during daylight hours. By enhancing visibility, these displays contribute to a safer driving environment, reducing the risk of accidents caused by over speeding.

Variable Message Sign for Real-Time Guidance

One of the standout features of Wizpro’s solution has been the installation of a massive VMS – an 8-meter by 2.5-meter aluminum structure, making it the largest VMS display in India. Teaming up with technology partner Vulcan, Wizpro developed a SMART VMS equipped with an integrated processing engine. This system seamlessly communicates with Google to retrieve real-time weather updates, traffic conditions, and precise directions for motorists. With its prominent display, the VMS ensures crucial information and warnings are easily visible to drivers, ultimately guiding them toward safer journeys.

A significant reduction in accidents along the Pune-Satara stretch could be achieved in just a few weeks. Wizpro’s ongoing research and development efforts promise to further refine their SMART VMS, making it even smarter and more effective in safeguarding road users.
