Goa government to build road bridges on priority basis

The Goa government is planning to build new bridges on the state roads, especially on the highways on a priority basis. Among the bridges planned is one across the Zuari river on the national highway NH17, with the existing bridge showing signs of stress due to the ever-increasing traffic. The second priority for bridge construction is two bridges in the Goa’s southernmost part of taluka of Canacona, a long standing demand of local residents. Another bridge being planned is on the NH4A at Khandepar near Ponda. The government has sought permission from the Centre to widen the two national highways in the state. Once approved, the widening would necessitate the construction of small bridges on both the highways. The NHAI has already agreed in-principle to allow Goa to undertake the highway widening projects.
