Drone service in minutes

As per the reports, Bengaluru has launched its first commercial drone delivery service, nearly three years after three hospitals in the city announced plans to use drones for medical deliveries. The service aims to bypass the city’s heavy traffic. Delivery routes are planned based on demand density and available infrastructure. According to Skye Air, a Delhi-based drone delivery network, the service is already available in Konankunte and Kanakapura Road areas. Gurugram’s first commercial drone delivery took place in Sector 92, covering a distance of 7.5 km in just three to four minutes, compared to a 15-minute road journey.

The drones fly within an invisible air corridor at 120 metres above ground level, known as the Skye Tunnel. The model in use, Skye Ship One, is designed for high-capacity operations and can carry up to 10 kg per trip. Upon arrival at its destination, the drone lowers to 20 metres, deploys the Skye Winch system to drop the package at a designated Skye Pod or drop zone, and then returns to its origin via the same route.
