Delta Video Wall powers NTPC?s SACS Centre

Delta Displays, an international provider of visual solutions recently supplied the latest Video Wall solutions for the SACS (Special Analytics and Computational Services) Centre of NTPC Ltd, India?s largest power company. The Centre, based at Noida, is an NTPC initiative for continually monitoring the reliability & performance characteristics of its key assets, decrease maintenance costs and reduce outages. The Centre enables early detection of nascent problems with equipment that tend to effect production, thus facilitating quick and effective action and preventing large scale losses. It uses Delta?s 50? diagonal s rear projection LED based video wall. With a controller capable of handling multiple inputs and using Delta?s wall management software, layout management is easy. An additional Matrix Switcher allows connections from other inputs like cameras and video conferencing equipment. This ensures sharing of information and seamless communication between different focus areas simultaneously.

The Video wall enables applications for equipment condition monitoring, systems performance and benchmarking forming the first shield of analysis to be run. This allows quick focus on the desired process. Multiple Fish bone diagrams and fault tree visualisation on the Video wall quickly narrows an issue for in-depth analysis.

Once alerted, the issue is quickly diagnosed and information is sent to the concerned process owners. Feedback and action is taken which completely resolves the issue. The knowledge base is also updated and it is ensured that similar issues do not recur by employing a strict PI based monitoring system. Additionally, every unit start-up and shutdown is monitored against design parameters and benchmarks, the process being logged for deviations adding to the knowledge base.
