The Union Road Transport ministry is expected to offer viability gap funding to the tune of Rs 1,000Cr to state governments to create top-notch bus terminals in 2,000 cities and towns.
The ministry has plans to fund Rs 1,000Cr to support states in setting up of bus-ports or large bus terminals. The plan is to have around 2,000 such terminals over the next few years in the B-O-T model or give in private-public partnerships where there will more need for viability gap funding. The ministry is also ready to provide funds for consultancy study.
The first bus-ports has already come up in cities like Nagpur and Vadodara. Support is also extended for green transport solutions.
