Budget 2017 gives boost to infrastructure

India will invest as much as Rs 3,96,135Cr in creating and upgrading infrastructure in the next financial year. For the road sector, the budget has allocation of Rs 67,000Cr for the national highways as compared to Rs 57,676Cr in 2016-17. Also, 2,000km of coastal connectivity roads will be constructed. The largest ever rail budget is Rs 1.3 trillion, an increase of 8.26 over last year.

In addition, an allocation of Rs 19,000Cr has been made towards the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to connect distant places.
