The Central government has placed the Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (ADKIC), which involved the initial budgetary support worth `5,749cr, on the fast track. The project will be the second of its kind, after the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. It will be aligned to the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and will be spread across 20 cities in seven states passing through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. One of the main features of ADKIC is that the Industrial Manufacturing clusters will have all the benefits of NMZs but with a minimum land area of only 10sqkm and not 50sqkm as in the case of NMZs. State Governments would also be invited to join in the equity of ADKIC.
