Accelerating Intelligent Mobility in India TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS

Building a long term vision for safer cities

Onnyx Electronisys Pvt Ltd is involved in the production and installation of traffic signals including complete hardware & software and deployment of ITMS solutions. With a Pan India presence, the Company boasts of operating maximum numbers of traffic signals in the country. Anita Kaushik, Director says that a range of innovative solutions from Onnyx are really making a difference on the ground.

How are your products tuned towards Smart Mobility?

At Onnyx Electronisys, we are passionate about transforming the way traffic flows in India with our advanced intelligent traffic management systems.

For instance, our AI-powered Traffic Signal Controller, developed on CDAC ATCS platform, is designed to adjust signal timings based on real-time traffic. This means smoother traffic flow and less congestion, which is something all of us could appreciate, especially during rush hour!

We also have systems like ANPR and RLVD that automate traffic rule enforcement. These not only help keep the roads safer but also ensure smoother operations without needing too much manual intervention.

One of the innovations we are really proud of is our Emergency Vehicle Priority System. Using AI, we make sure ambulances and other emergency vehicles get through intersections without delay, which can make all the difference in life-or-death situations. At the core, it is all about smarter mobility – optimizing traffic, enhancing safety, reducing emissions, and using resources efficiently to build a better future for our cities.

All these innovations reflect our commitment to improving mobility in India, while making sure that the solutions we offer are future-proof and scalable for the country’s growing needs.

Are your solutions improved upon to suit the Indian conditions?

India’s roads and traffic come with their own unique set of challenges, and at Onnyx we have designed our technologies to tackle these head-on. From extreme weather and heavy vehicle loads to unpredictable driving behaviors and the large number of two-wheelers, our solutions are made to fit India’s real-world conditions.

For instance, our equipment, like cameras, signal poles, and controllers, is built to last—whether it is facing harsh weather or the risk of vandalism. We have also adapted cutting-edge global technology specifically for India’s traffic landscape, taking into account everything from cycles to heavy trucks. With focus on sustainability, the products are energy-efficient and designed to work with solar panels, in line with the government’s push towards greener, more sustainable infrastructure.

Hurdles if any in the right kind of implementation

In many cities, one of the key challenges we face is integrating modern AI-based solutions with existing infrastructure. A lot of the traffic management systems are quite outdated, and it takes a significant amount of investment and effort to upgrade both the physical infrastructure and train people to use these new technologies effectively.

Another major hurdle is the budget. Many municipalities are working with limited resources, so it is difficult for them to invest in a comprehensive ITMS across an entire city or region. Onnyx is always working to find cost-effective solutions, but there is a balance to be struck between what is ideal and what is feasible within these financial constraints.

Public awareness and compliance is also a big part of the challenge. Systems like ANPR and RLVD are incredibly effective, but getting people to understand how they work and, more importantly, comply with them requires a shift in mindset. This means not only launching educational campaigns but also working with law enforcement to ensure these systems are properly enforced.

It is all about building a long-term vision while managing short-term hurdles. By working closely with local governments and communities, we can bring innovative traffic solutions that make cities safer and more efficient for everyone.

Are you working on new solutions?

We are always exploring new ways to push the boundaries of innovation in Indian mobility. For instance, we are integrating drones into our traffic management solutions. These drones will monitor congestion, manage incidents, and even help coordinate traffic during large events or emergencies.

Also being developed is an AI-powered parking management system that can guide drivers to available parking spaces in real-time. This could drastically reduce the chaos and congestion caused by vehicles circling around looking for parking. Another cutting-edge technology we are working on is AI-driven geofencing for emergency services.

This system gives real-time updates to help ambulances and other emergency vehicles move through city traffic quickly and efficiently, which could really improve response times in critical situations.
