International airport in Jharkhand

In a bid to promote religious tourism in the state, the Jharkhand state government has decided to build an international airport in the pilgrim town of Deoghar. The government recently signed a MoU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for setting up the airport on 675 acres of land. Equipped with international standard infrastructure, the airport is expected to be ready by 2014. It will have two runways, one 8,858 feet long and 147 feet wide, and the other 9,286 feet long and 984 feet wide. The government has acquired about 150 acres of land till now out of which 50 acres have been marked for the runways.
