AI-Powered Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF)

India is on the move towards smarter roads & digital highways. One exciting leap in this journey is the AI-powered MLFF tolling system. This advanced tolling solution is changing how we pay tolls on highways and expressways, making travel smoother, faster and more efficient. MLFF removes the need for stopping at toll booths altogether. With this system, vehicles can cruise through at speeds up to 150 km/h or more, while tolls are collected automatically.

The smart tech behind MLFF brings together cutting-edge technologies such as ANPR and high-definition cameras using AI and OCR to read vehicle number plates—whether standard or HSRP—with high accuracy. They work reliably in all conditions: day or night, rain, fog or bright sunlight, thanks to infrared & LED-assisted imaging. Using deep learning & image recognition, the system automatically detects and classifies vehicles into categories such as three-wheelers, cars, mini and LCVs, minibuses, trucks, multi-axles and OSV/EMVs. This ensures the right toll is charged for every type of vehicle, every time.

Unlike cloud-only systems, MLFF uses powerful edge computing (processing done on-site) to analyze images and data instantly. This reduces delays and improves system performance. Every vehicle passing through is recorded with vehicle number, type, time and date stamp and travel direction. This data helps with live traffic monitoring, dispute resolution and better enforcement—keeping the system transparent and fair.

MLFF is engineered to work without disrupting existing road infrastructure. All key components—RFID readers, LiDAR sensors, high-definition cameras and computing units are mounted overhead, eliminating the need for toll booths or road modifications.
