Traffic Industry Speaks on ‘Make in India’
After the computerization of the government departments, approvals and clearances have improved. Still, we feel most of the useful information is not percolated to the masses. We, for example, wanted to expand our setup but the information about Industrial Development Corporations is not up to date. The government should create more land for industrial development and pass on the benefits to occupants of these premises. Only then a business-friendly environment can be created in India.
To compete with international products and systems, we are continuously updating our quality assurance systems and getting our products certified by International Certification Agencies. Our in-house development is completely monitored by ISO 9001:2008 guidelines. We have separate teams for development, production and testing departments. We also have stringent quality checks at all stages of development and production.
We are working actively in the field of Toll Collection Systems. There are numerous challenges faced by a company dealing with tolling solution specific to Indian environment. Unlike in India, the definition for different classes of vehicles is very clear and followed strictly in most of the developed countries. And hence, it requires thorough knowledge about the problem faced in India, to be able to offer a perfect solution. It takes very less time to attend to the problems, if any, in the products developed in India as compared to imported products. So, for us, ithas become our USP to offer perfect solutions. And also to support the systems very effectively for our customers.
India’s small and medium-sized industries can play a big role in making the country take the next big leap in manufacturing. But the government has to consider the tax burdens or at least the nature of collection for our sector. In the infrastructure industry, the payment cycles are longer than in other industries. For example, we have to pay all the taxes immediately after sending the invoice regardless of late payments from our clients. This is very much taxing. The Indian small and medium sized industries should be given tax benefits to boost their morale.
In China, manufacturers have the liberty to use the government infrastructure free or with less expense for development and manufacturing. But the solution providers in India produce best quality products even when there are no such facilities.
It is just a beginning of things and we presume that the present government will overcome the policy paralysis and remove the bottlenecks from the system. Rosemerta has taken initiatives to have international level production facilities to cope with the international standards, in line with conformity of production for our international market. For creating and maintaining a competitive edge over international products and systems, we are constantly upgrading technology through our dedicated R & D and NPD. We have also established the best and lean manufacturing processes & systems to gain competitive advantage and ensure that quality is assured at every level of production. We have a robust quality system which conforms to ISO/ TS Standards and have facilities to stand at par with an international competition.
‘Made in India’ products would surely provide the mileage and the long term benefits and provide customer with the competitive prices with the best aftersales service and quality.
Indian industries can play a big role in making the country take the next big leap in manufacturing. But the government has to chart out plans to give special sops and privileges to these sectors. We propose reduction in the Excise Duty with proposed setting in of GST where we expect further transparency and fair play in the market.
