From December 1, payments at all the toll plazas will be through FASTag only. Cash payments will no longer be accepted. Against this backdrop, officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) have appealed to four-wheeler owners to get the FASTag from the toll plaza operators.
The FASTag will be available at all the toll plazas, online purchase sites like Amazon and even some petrol pumps. A mobile application ‘My FASTag’ has been made available on Google Playstore. Motorists paying the toll through FASTag will also get 2.5 percent cashback of the total toll paid.
As per the Transport Corporation of India and IIM-Calcutta, once the ETC becomes operational, it will save Rs 87,000Cr at the national level and would reduce the average waiting time at the toll plazas by 10 minutes.
Since its inception in 2016, approximately 10,000 FASTag has been sold at the Ghoti toll plaza and another 35,000 at the Pimpalgaon toll plaza in Nashik.
