It is reported that Aurangabad city has been identified by the Central Government as one of the cities to be developed as a freight smart city.
This would help improve freight transport by heavy vehicle movement within the city. A nodal agency headed by the Municipal commissioner and the Municipal Corporation will coordinate with other agencies like transport, environment, state urban development, town planning and finance departments. The action plan includes data collection, barrier identification, demand forecasting, identification of solutions and measures, project financing and implementation of City Logistics Plan.
