Second phase of outer ring road for Chennai

The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned the construction of the second phase of the outer ring road for Chennai, a project which will help heavy vehicles with containers bound towards the Chennai and Enmore Ports bypass – the congested city roads. The 32km road is estimated to cost around 1075 crore, and would be constructed on a BOT model, PPP basis and annuity payment model. The 29.5km long first phase of the outer ring road is expected to be completed by November this year.
