After being held in New Delhi and Mumbai from 2011, TrafficInfraTech Expo and Parking Infratech Expo were taken to Hyderabad this year and the shows did meet the expectations of the different stakeholders. A perfect blend of business and knowledge sharing was achieved with the participation of high-level officials from both the public and private sectors: The Government officials, the Police, Technology providers, Consultants and Industry experts…the support came from all quarters. Quite expectedly, this issue brings most of what happened during the three-day event. We will continue the reporting in the coming issues as well.

There is one more reason to celebrate. With this issue, TrafficInfraTech magazine has completed seven years of publication. It is now being rated as the most comprehensive publication in the country on traffic infrastructure, technology, safety and mass transport etc. We try to tune the content to suit the government’s vision of working on traffic/transport infrastructure and technology to speed up India’s overall progress. Driving home the point, the opening panel discussion on ‘Digital Revolution for Smart Mobility’ looked at how physical infrastructure has to draw from IT and how IT in turn rides on infrastructure to give optimal utilisation. The coming years will also see India going fast on Electric Vehicles.

Bookings for the next TrafficInfraTech Expo and Parking Infratech Expo – October 24-26, 2018, in Mumbai got to an encouraging start at the Hyderabad event. Most of the exhibitors have confirmed their participation. As for the International companies, the recent announcement by the Road Ministry to develop 83,677km of roads at an investment of about `7 lakh crores by 2020 is a good enough reason to look at the potential of Indian market.
