Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro has bagged a $352 million contract from Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications to build the Al Batinah Expressway Package 4. The project entails the construction of a 50km long, four-lane dual-carriage expressway, two grade-separated interchanges, seven overpasses, five bridges and cross drainage works, and is scheduled to be completed in three years. The 265km long Al Batinah Expressway, which will stretch from the end of Muscat Expressway in Al Fulaij till Khatmat Milahah, is being constructed in six packages. The contract for the third package was awarded to India-based Simplex Infrastructures. L&T has also been declared as the lowest bidder for the fifth and sixth packages of the Batinah Expressway project.
